I started buying Look-in at the very beginning, in Jan 1971 as I saw the adverts, remember them? (la-la-la-la-la-Look-in!), and noticed there was a Timeslip strip in it, I was a big fan of the series, and in any case my usual read TV21 was fast going downhill. So I went and bought it and never looked back really, I was big TV fan so favoured comics that had a TV flavour, Look-in is the best of them for me, Purists may say TV21, but each to his own.

Looks like I was a tad behind you! Cool I must have missed the first adverts or something (I was only 6) and started with issue 9 or 10. Like you, I loved the 'Timeslip' strip, and I'm still wondering if I was old enough to realise it was the same artist (Mike Noble) who drew the only other strip I'd known - 'Star Trek' in TV21 during the summer of 1970.

Looking back, I kind of flirted with the title when it had stuff of interest - The Tomorrow People in 1974 and 1975, then I guess there was a period when I stopped as I missed the first 'Space:1999' strips but continued through 1976 and possibly up until 1984 or 85, when i was at college.

Very Happy

I began with issue #1, all because of Time Slip and the wonderful art of Mr Noble. Still remember the free gift had something to do with building the Magpie studio, and for those that don't remember Magpie was a news type show for the kids with the amazing Jenny Handley (spelling).

I started with the very first issue featuring The Six Million Dollar Man (which would be issue #26 from 1975 -- which we have in the archive). God, I loved that show! And the Martin Asbury artwork blew me away too! It's good to be able to read that issue again...

I'm pretty sure my first encounter with Look-in was issue no. 28 in 1976 (also available in the archive) which heralded the arrival of The Bionic Woman with a beautiful Lindsay Wagner cover - Steve Austin's friend starts her own TV series this week!

I think my next encounter was the free 'Bionic Eye' giveaway. I made my mum and dad drive to every newsagents in the NW of England, to no avail - they must have seriously underestimated the demand for that one! I do own that issue now, but sadly the 'Bionic Eye' is long gone Sad

And finally, I started buying it regularly from issue no. 2 in 1977, which featured a rather wonderful Abba cover. I cut the little coupon out of the back, filled it in and handed it to my local newsagent - and my real love affair with Look-in began Very Happy

Ah..the old 'bionic eye', what a stupendous waste of time that was! does anyone still have it?
Does anyone have the magpie studio?, I have issue one but the middle pages are missing and it dosen't have the gift. or the 'I'm a tomorrow person sticker?, I'd love good scans of these to show on the 'Look-out' site.

Does anyone remember any other free gifts?

I have the 'I'm A Tomorrow People' sticker (issue 6 of... 1976, I think, without referring to a guide), and the free gift of the Zodiac Wheel from issue 3 of 1971...

Cool

And whilst I don't have the 'Bionic Eye', I remember it well... used the same kind of trick as those fake X-Ray things. Fine fibres across a small whole which defused an object - usually your hand, held up to a light or the sky - so it seemed you could see the bones...

I wouldn't mind good scans of the sticker and the wheel for an item in 'Look-out', if you get the chance shaqui.

John.

I found my scan of the sticker John... I'll try and email it in due course. You can see a good scan of one side of the wheel at the Timeslip forum...
