I bought a copy of Look-in from 1993 from eBay for a laugh, for the princely sum of 99p plus p+p, it is poor compared to what we know and love from years ago. I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about some of the strips inside, Only one is based on a series to my knowledge, that's 'Scooby-Doo', but theres one called 'Mac' about a teenager and his dog called Junkyard, one called 'Justin Gibbs and his massive fibs' - speaks for itself, and looks as though it should be in the Beano or the like, 'Chuck Rock' which is based on a computer game of the time, and 'Garfield' (Which may have been a series i'm not sure). the 'Junior TVTimes' has been dropped, and it has no programme listings. I'm not really sure why they continued it for so long really, surely it couldn't have had many readers at this point?
A sad end to an all time great.

Desite what us 'oldies', who grew up with 'Look-In' during the 1970s. may think of it post-that decade, the title continued to thrive until the late 1980s.
According to Colin Shelbourn, it was the advent of home video that saw a serious drop in sales, culminating in the sale of the title, along with 'TV Times', by ITV Publishing to IPC in 1992.
The official ABC figures can be found here:

I don't know at which point the listings were dropped but I doubt IPC would have paid for the privilige to continue these, or any other TV series tie-in.
I have the very last issue, and there are a couple of retrospective features - one on covers and another on strips.

I suppose things move on and what was good for one generation is not necesseraly good for another, I suppose it must have been selling otherwise they'd have ended it sooner. Funny you should mention the last issue Shaqui, i've just put a bid in for a copy on eBay not long ago, but if I don't win it, I would'nt mind some scans from it for the feature I want to do on Look-in's demise.
I'll keep you posted.
