Noticed a 'More Best of Jackie' book is out. As there's already been a 'Best of Jackie', and a 'Best of Jackie' annual, I'm wondering if good sales of 'Best of Look-In - The Seventies' may bode positively for further editions?

I wonder wether the publishers put out any sort of 'feelers' to find out exactly how popular the project would be. Surely that would be prudent before putting money into the project? The previous incarnation of 'Look-out' had nearly 100 guestbook entries, the archive has around that, so maybe they used that as a guide. Maybe a lot of people will buy it just for the nostalgia thing, and not neccesseraly cause they are Look-in fans. All this is only speculation and we can only hope that it does enough to warrant more editions, i'd certainly like more 70's editions, and although I probably would'nt be as into it, I would buy 80's and 90's editions too.

I don't think they would have used the previous site, or even if this forum, as a guide - the input is significantly lower than other more lively forums I have been to . But certainly 'Look-In' is fondly recalled, and the 70s period appealed to both boys and girls, so while I think the first volume is a gamble, it's a well calculated one.
Still haven't seen it in the shops much though... would have thought placing it with annuals would have been a good bet but so far have only seen it in the local 'Waterstones' I bought mine in...

She had definitely been to the site, because she e-mailed me privately to ask me about who to ask about permission to use the pages. The site was fresher then, although I still hadn't done much to it for some months. Another thing that occured to me is that at that time there was a Nostalgia thing sweeping the country, and loads of programmes such as the 'I love...' and 'Top 10' series amongst others. So however much of a risk it was, i'm pretty sure it was calculated.
Are there any other 'best of's' people would like to see?, i'd like a best of 'Action', that was my other favourite read after Look-in.

If you check out the ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS page at the front of the book, it says Carlton Books Ltd apologises for any unintentional errors or omissions that will be corrected in future editions of the book
Not sure whether that's just something they have to put for legal reasons, but hopefully it means they've got plans for future editions.
Obviously future editions will depend on how this sells, but it might help if booksellers that actually stock it put it in more obvious places - like with all the other Annuals

You've taken the wrong meaning from this i'm afraid!, books go through an initial printing run of so many, books from this initial run are known as 'First editions', if a book becomes successful another run is needed, and before this run is made, any errors that have been pointed out are amended, so it's basically the same book, but with the errors corrected. Books can go through even more printing runs than this, I have James Bond books that are well into double figures.
It is in no way meant to imply that there will be any new books - Unfortunatley.
John.
