Can anybody tell me if The Sweeney was ever a strip in Look-In? I could swear I can remember it being in there, but my mate who also collected it every week says he can never remember The Sweeney being in there.
And, also, if anybody here is among those who keep bidding against me on ebay for back issues? Would you kindly bugger off? LOL.
Thanks in advance guys!

Hi AJD
No, 'The Sweeney' was never a strip in 'Look-In' - the magazine had a policy of never running strips (and possibly features) of any ITV show that started after the 9pm watershed. So that put the show out of the running straight away.
There were a couple of annuals, illustrated by the late Brian Lewis. Maybe this is what you're thinking of?
Alternatively, 'Target' - a short-lived 1978 title published by the same people who did 'TV Comic' - had 'Target' (based on the BBC series with Patrick Mower), 'Kojak' and 'Hazell', all shows which 'Look-In' shied away from. So maybe one of these is what you're thinking of?

Those Annuals look familiar, Shaqui. i think you may well have solved my conundrum. Thanks.
If anybody wants to engage in useless banter regarding the 1970's or 80's feel free to do so. My name is Alan, and I will now probably have to hunt those Annuals down.
What do other people here collect/hoard/hide from the missus? My poor long-suffering wife has a husband who collects comics (especially Batman), James Bond stuff, books, British Annuals, and all manner of memoribilia (or 'useless dust-gathering, sh!te' as my beloved calls it). I have had to fit out my attic to hold it all, especially my comic collection. I also like to pick up any of the related novels from tv series such as UFO, The Tomorrow People, The Professionals, Six Million Dollar Man, etc.
If anybody is unaware, there is a great site called 'TV Cream' which is full of great stuff. If anybody can recommend similar sites, I'd be grateful.
So. come on. What do you all collect?

what do we collect??
I've nearly got a full set of Look-In annuals.
Full set of Blue Peter annuals.
Nearly a full set of Doctor Who annuals.
countless editions of the Radio Times from various years!
countless comics from over the years, including some rare 60's british ones!
Oh and about 300 issues of Look-In!

Sounds good. Do you collect any Radio Times or are there particular series/covers/actors that you are after?
I made a huge boo boo about 10 months ago on ebay and bought a job lot of about 35 issues off some bloke. They were only just over 12 including postage, and all from the golden period, for me at least, between 1974 and 1979, and when they arrived I was delighted until I found that only about 6 of them had the poster in the middle.
Talk about pissed off
The full set of BP annuals sounds good, although they never appealed to me personally, but the Doctor Who ones are great and i have a few in my attic. So you have the 'big two'? The first William Hartnell one and the Daleks annual? They go for a fair couple of bob on ebay.
Anyway, it's nice to meet you.

Yeah i'm pretty sure Sweeney was in 'Target' too, though I would swear to it. It never ran from the first issue though, as I have it and it's not there, I think it appeared later.

Have most of the run John, and don't think it did.
